Liquid and particulate protective coveralls are a single garment from ankle to neck. They are worn over personal clothing and protect the worker's front, back, arms, and legs. Continuous coverage prevents particles and aerosols from entering at the waist as compared to pants and shirt.

Coveralls provide continuous coverage from neck to ankle to prevent particles from entering at the waist. Hoods are worn with coveralls and other garments to protect the head and neck.  Liquid and particulate protective clothing keeps workers clean. It protects staff who perform a variety of tasks including automotive spray painting, maintenance work, and pharmaceutical and lab work. Liquid and particulate clothing protects against hazardous and non-hazardous dirt, dust, aerosols, dry particulates, and liquids. Aprons cover the front of a worker to the knee, leaving the arms uncovered, while smocks have sleeves.
